Dedicated to the Art and Practices of Finding Liberation Through Living

~ Transforming Self, Earth, Consciousness Itself ~

What is World Dharma...

Igniting the heart and conscience to explore relationships as the most sacred context in evolving wisdom and freedom.

"Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, if you listen carefully, you can hear her breathing." ~ Arundhati Roy

The World Dharma Online Institute, our purpose:

World - the earth, in its entirety, with all its inhabitants.
Dharma - the principles of life ordering consciousness, cosmos, and freedom.
Online - a global matrix of information, research, and communication.
Institute - an association organized to elevate principles, causes, and values.

Through the imaginative use of the Internet and other interactive technologies the World Dharma Online Institute was conceived to offer non-sectarian courses and services for the purpose of evolving a global culture of conscience - lovers of freedom - dedicated to human decency and the compassionate and peaceful emergence of a world citizenship rooted in dignity, universal human rights, and environmental sanity.

Further, it is our aspiration to support individuals to find within themselves the courage to care - give back to life - and so change the world, and oneself, one person, one moment, at a time.

The World Dharma Online Institute is dedicated to Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's imprisoned Nobel peace laureate, and to the people of her country in their ongoing struggle for freedom from dictatorship, known as Burma's "revolution of the spirit." "

Within a system which denies the existence of basic human rights, fear tends to be the order of the day. Fear of imprisonment, fear of torture, fear of death, fear of losing friends, family, property or means of livelihood, fear of poverty, fear of isolation, fear of failure. A most insidious form of fear is that which masquerades as common sense or even wisdom, condemning as foolish, reckless, insignificant or futile the small, daily acts of courage which help to preserve a [person's] self-respect and inherent human dignity."

~ Aung San Suu Kyi

Jeannine Davies conducts research in the areas of consciousness, clinical psychology, and modern physics. Her work, best described as the synthesis of existential-humanism and nonsectarian dharma, focuses on the intimate exploration and meaningful evolution of our inter-personal relationships.

Jeannine is a dear friend and long-time colleague of Alan's and serves as co-founder of the World Dharma vision. She resides in Vancouver, Canada.

"Sometimes, 24 hours can bring a total revolutionary change."

~ Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's (imprisoned) Nobel Peace laureate,

"What I am talking about should not be confused with transcendence, or an attempt to escape one's self or the world. The World Dharma way of being - finding liberation through living - has nothing to do with life-denying attitudes. Nor am I proposing a return to "primordial beingness" as the only true means by which to overcome human suffering. This freedom is not fear-driven but life-giving - it includes the flesh, the ordinary self, the sacred and mundane as one. It's about making life our art."

Shantideva says:

He who desires shelter quickly
For himself and all others
Should use this sacred mystery,
The exchanging of oneself for others.
